Diller Development Team

Members of the community have developed an organization called the Diller Development Team.  Several committees have been formed such as: Diller Foundation, Downtown Beautification, Economic Development and many others.  It is (DDT's) mission and goal to continue to approve the appearance and help the community prosper and grow.

Main Street Committee

This committee was in charge of the multi-phase to improve the east side of Main Street in 2005. The plan included the installation of new sidewalks for 2 blocks, removal of a fence and cleaning of the lot behind it, development of a Veteran's Memorial Park in the lot, renovations to the face of several buildings, and installation of 30 decorative lighting fixtures along the 4 blocks of main street stretch. The 2 year process met its goal and was recognized as a 2005 NCIP Award Winner. This new face of main street shows a community that is moving forward. The park was funded in part by an Arboretum Grant along with Foundation monies. The sidewalk was paid for through contributions by the property owners and the Foundation. All of the lights were privately sponsored and a name plate has been placed on each fixture giving these supporters recognition.

Economic Development

This group was instrumental in the State Bank of Odell-Diller Branch opening on main street in 2004, bringing a banking facility back to the Village after a 60 year absence.

People's Committee

The People's Committee is the sponsor of the walking and exercise groups in Diller. They also organize the summer reading program for the youth and plan a community family fall celebration. `

Highway Sign's Committee

This committee has worked together to place a community sign north of Diller at the Highway 136 intersection. (see picture below) The committee is now working on getting a similar sign displayed south of Diller at the Highway 8 intersection.

Award Winning Community

The Community of Diller has been presented with the NCIP (Nebraska Community Improvement Program) award 3 years in a row for their outstanding community improvements. See the awards pictured below. The Community of Diller has been an NCIP member since 1999.

In 2005 the Diller Community Foundation was given a visionary gift. Through a $50,000 gift from Al Svajgr, in honor of his parents, the community of Diller was able  to establish the Diller Community Endowment. The Foundation Board chose to challenge the community to build this "Legacy of Pride" to $200,000 by 2008. The value is now $90,000 in gifts and pledges. The Foundation received the 2005 Endowment Building Award from the Nebraska State Foundation in November at its annual banquet.
